It seems cool, but I would like to try it to believe in it: all the times that someone promised me some kind of sensory magic, it never turned out so good as they told me (like with the phantom touch sensation that Leap Motion told me about ). Google halves its revenues on the Play Store. Some XR fun.

It is also working on creating its own hardware : a previous report highlighted that it could build its own chips in the future, and this article shows how the company is working also in acquiring hardware parts markers. Of course its goal is to give importance to Steam, not to the hardware.

This is because Leap Motion has announced its v4 version of the tracking runtime and with it three demos to showcase the new tracking functionalities: Cat Explorer, Particles, and Paint. Cat Explorer is an educational app made to show you all the anatomy of a cat and it obviously employs Leap Motion as the only medium of interaction.

It is intriguing that many companies are already experimenting with this new chipset, and one of these partners is Niantic, that is thinking about going the AR hardware route after all its hard work on gelocalized AR games like Pokemon Go. Facebook has deep expertise on AR and VR (I think we all know it), while Luxottica, that is the worldwide leader in glasses manufacturing (it is the brand behind Rayban, for instance), for sure knows how to create glasses that consumers want to wear. And then there will be Michael Abrash and John Carmack! HTC has a new CEO: Yves Maitre.
