Magic Leap has just organized its first developers’ event, dubbed “L.E.A.P.” It is the first event of this kind organized by Magic Leap: we can say that LEAP Con is like the Oculus Connect of Magic Leap and will probably become always more important, year after year, exactly as it has happened to Oculus.

This could actually be quite beneficial for Meta, Microsoft, and Magic Leap. Also, while converging the physical and virtual worlds is inevitable, it won’t be through massive ski goggles on your face. This was done by introducing flat, resizeable virtual screens to maximise productivity.

Mirror Lake includes holographic lenses, reverse passthrough (people can see your eyes when you wear it), varifocal, and eye-tracking in a single very lightweight device. The idea of Leap Motion is going against the current trend of augmented reality glasses, that is mostly based on expensive devices that have closed ecosystems (e.g. HoloLens or Magic Leap One ), but to create a headset that is: Affordable; Completely open, both from a software and hardware standpoint.

So I feel like there’s so much of a mirroring of what’s happening in these virtual worlds that the training applications are just incredible, in terms of whether it’s a surgical simulation or Walmart’s using it to train for different employees. Being able to actually look somebody in the eyes in VR.
