Varjo is a Finnish startup that is offering enterprise headsets that have full “retina vision” That is, looking at the display, you don’t see the pixels anymore , but you see the virtual world as you would see the real one, without any screen door effect. Eye-tracking. Hands tracking.

Leap Motion. You may ask why I’m adding Leap Motion here. Well, during 2018, Leap Motion has announced the North Star reference design : a cheap augmented reality connected to PC, that is able to detect your hands very well thanks to Leap Motion’s sensor.

If SteamVR apps can’t detect your Vive controllers or you see your Vive/Oculus controllers fixed on a point on the ground in the virtual world without any possibility to move them, go on reading! I bought my Vive to experiment with 7Invensun eye tracking and I was really enthusiast about trying eye-tracked UX.

The Neo 2 may not be sexy as the Quest, but it is more powerful (thanks to the Snapdragon 845), has a crisper resolution , and in the “Eye” version, it also features embedded eye tracking. And all of this is cheaper than the $1000 enterprise Oculus Quest : the Neo 2 costs $700 and the Neo 2 Eye costs $900. Picture 2).
