What is interesting the most of this announcement is that in the invitation to the event it is stated “Join us to begin a new chapter of virtual and augmented reality”. nReal has also been sued by Epic Games for its name that is too close to “Unreal”. The Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications (FIT) together with various partners from industry including Apple, Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Microsoft, Qualcomm, and Son y has confirmed the release and official adoption of H.266/Versatile Not a great evolution from Microsoft. According to Samsung, it should come in 2028.
