According to at least one objective analysis , the Samsung and Oculus-developed device is projected to sell upward of 2 million units by the end of this year. Currently, the Gear VR cannot do this.

Samsung has also teased to be interested in releasing a new AR/VR standalone device. The only exception to this rule seems to be the Samsung Odyssey+, that offers features somewhat comparable to the ones of the Vive Pro, but costs only $500. The Odyssey has anyway the problem of the non-optimal tracking of controllers.
