Vive Cosmos is HTC’s newly unveiled PC VR headset that’s slated to release sometime this year. While it’s a tethered device meant to support PCs at launch, HTC teased that it could also be driven by a smartphone. HTC’s U12+ is a Snapdragon 845 device that supports DisplayPort over its USB-C.

Unlike the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, no outside hardware, sensors, or cameras are needed. Insta360 Pro uses six independent high-definition lenses. Microsoft decided to take a calculated risk and leave the Virtual Reality market to Facebook (through Oculus and Samsung) and HTC with their dedicated headsets Gear VR, Rift and Vive. All future users of HoloLens should need is a collaborative suite (perhaps Microsoft’s own HoloOffice?).

HTC has sold an estimated 100k Vives. Samsung Gear VR expected 3.5 As they say, content is king, and in virtual reality this is definitely an area seeing growing pains. Gen Z is the the most passionate segment in VR. Average time spent in headset is 25 minutes. VR Consumption, 2016. Oculus has sold an estimated 250k Rifts.

According to John Carmack , Oculus CTO noted that the Oculus Go will perform "significantly better" than the Samsung Gear. The pinnacle of standalone performance is HTC Vive’s Focus headset that that uses "world-scale" and is similar to the HTC vive, a powerful headset tethered to a PC.

Amazon promises “single-digit latency” XR streaming. Amazon has announced some weeks ago “Wavelength”, a new offering of its AWS services, that should provide “single-digit latency” over 5G networks. To have such a low latency, the company needs very fast 5G networks and edge servers very close to the client.
