The technology behind it is pretty cool: you have some cameras (I guess RGB + depth) that scan yourself live in 3D , compress the data with a special Google algorithm, send it to the other peer, where it gets decompressed and reconstructed in real-time on a light field display. Microsoft confirms (again) it wants to build consumer HoloLens.
