In 737 lines of code, a big chunk of which is debugging output to trace the control and data flow of the xine library. While I primarily bought the Sony to experiment with head-mounted VR (that was about five years ago), I also really wanted to use it as a video viewer. So yeah, libxine is awesome. So, what’s the verdict?

The Display Resolution of Head-mounted Displays, Revisited

Doc-Ok

I wrote an article earlier this year in which I looked closely at the physical display resolution of VR headsets, measured in pixels/degree, and how that resolution changes across the field of view of a headset due to non-linear effects from tangent-space rendering and lens distortion. So how did I generate the data in figures 6-10 and 13?

Exclusive: How NVIDIA Research is Reinventing the Display Pipeline for the Future of VR, Part 1

Road to VR

At NVIDIA, we’re inventing that system with cutting-edge tools, sensors, physics, AI, processors, algorithms, data structures, and displays. In the diagram below, latency is the time it takes data to move from the left to the right side of the system. Understanding the Pipeline. How do today’s VR developers accomplish this?

The video has an audio track that was also recorded on the desktop, featuring Dawn and me discussing her data set. In the Vrui VR toolkit, each local VR environment defines its own so-called physical coordinate system , which is the system in which the local display screens and/or head-mounted displays are tracked.
