And I’m also worried about using a Facebook account for everything XR related, because Facebook has a long history of obscure practices with the data of its users , apart from the standard “personalized ads” business. Facebook already had full control of my Oculus and Facebook accounts, so it had already my XR data.

As a long-time AR enthusiast, and one of the first to have tried Google Glass in Italy, I have to admit that I will consider AR mainstream only when it will be on glasses that we will wear all day , when we’ll live in a completely shared mixed reality world (the AR Cloud). Facebook and Apple will jumpstart the smartglasses ecosystem.

Coronavirus is back in Italy and from yesterday we’re having new restrictions like a night curfew, some kind of shops closed, etc… I hope that you and the people you love are safe. Cix has spread the news about the fact that: If you delete your Facebook account, you also automatically delete your Oculus data, games, and all the rest.

It’s a sunny lockdown day here in Italy, the sun is shining and the trees are blossoming. If we exclude the major tech companies (Facebook, Valve, etc…) and the meteor Magic Leap, this is the first VR company to reach this status, and this is another sign of the health of the virtual reality ecosystem. I totally want them to care more about our privacy, and I’m all in with Avi Bar-Zeev in having better management of eye tracking data on the Quest Pro. Meta wants all of us closed in a VR prison, but Apple/Snap/Niantic instead are the good guys doing AR. Meta is bad, Apple is our savior! It is such a good company.
