Will the Apple Vision Pro Debut in China Apple’s CEO and spatial computing champion, Tim Cook , confirmed that the recently released Apple Vision Pro would land in China in 2024. The CEO is visiting China due to a decline in iPhone sales. Cook said: I am very confident in it (China).

This week in XR hasn’t had any explosive news, but it was interesting nonetheless: in particular we had cool info on AR glasses, with some news from Kura, Lynx, and Samsung. And it also makes me super-happy that no one is about Facebook and Apple… I was getting pretty bored in writing newsletters only about these two companies!

Apple glasses are coming in 2021–2022 and they are incredibly sleek. Apple glasses are coming. The glasses are expected to run a new operating system, rOS (or reality OS), and Apple is exploring touch panels, voice activation, and head gestures as a means of control. Apple is really good at selling stuff.

The drama about Unity’s new pricing models has set the whole game development community on fire, while we had an unexpected leak about the Pico 5 and some updates on the Apple Vision Pro. Some people are migrating to Unreal Engine or Godot. Last but not least, now the Apple Watch supports a “double tap” gesture … but not on the screen.

At WCVRI, China shows its strategic interest for VR. And while China always moves chaotically, I think that the push of the government is helping its VR companies. While HTC is struggling on the hardware side, I think that it is moving very well to create a good software ecosystem, at least in China. HTC launches Vive XR Suite.

If the Paradise was in China, its name would be Qingdao. After his ML experience, Chi Xu has flown to China, where he has founded his AR company. nReal has also been sued by Epic Games for its name that is too close to “Unreal”. Anyway, everyone is waiting for an official sentence. We’ll discover it in the upcoming times.
