Apple reportedly indefinitely postponed its AR glasses, but plans to eventually release a more affordable headset model. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that standalone Apple Glasses had at one point years ago been planned for 2023. Glasses Shelved. Some startups like Nreal have already released primitive AR glasses.

I totally want them to care more about our privacy, and I’m all in with Avi Bar-Zeev in having better management of eye tracking data on the Quest Pro. Meta wants all of us closed in a VR prison, but Apple/Snap/Niantic instead are the good guys doing AR. Meta is bad, Apple is our savior! It is such a good company.

As I said a few months ago , we are in the middle of a paradigm change: the cycle that started with the Quest is arriving at an end, and a new cycle driven by new technologies (mixed reality headsets) and new players (Apple, Google) is starting.
