I thought it would have taken me a lot before I would be able to try the Magic Leap One , but luckily this has not been the case. But while we were great on the technical side, we weren’t good at doing business and marketing (I only started my blog in summer 2016 ), so in 2017 we closed the curtain on our crazy adventure.

At least from the outside, it appears Microsoft isn’t actively competing for a seat at the XR table, which is fairly odd coming from a company that pioneered enterprise AR while simultaneously wrangling some of its top OEM partners to make a fleet of PC VR headsets for consumers in 2017.

Every year, we have the same ritual: we wait for an event by Apple, hoping to hear some news about an upcoming XR device, then nothing happens in this sense, we are disappointed and so we hope for a new reveal next year. Apple reportedly postponed its full AR glasses “indefinitely” earlier this year, and Google reportedly killed its internal glasses project this year in favor of making the software for third parties instead. LCoS microdisplays were used in HoloLens 1 and are used today in Magic Leap 2.
