Swedish company Tobii , who has specialised in eye tracking since its inception in 2001, have produced hardware for gaze detection hardware in various guises for some time now, and has recently announced plans to bring its tech to virtual reality, via a $50M funding round.

Tobii has remained at the forefront of these solutions, recognising that eye-tracking tools pilot the world’s top immersive experiences. The Danderyd Municipality, Sweden-based firm has led markets since 2001, offering headset manufacturers, and software developers top-tier solutions for doing so.

I learned how to build hardware because back in the late ’90s, we weren’t using beautiful inside-out tracking systems. There was a lot of hardware work. You were really there building hardware and using very low frame, low-resolution headsets. Or Unreal if that’s your language.
