A couple of years ago I wrote a blog post ' Resolutions for the New Year ' which described upcoming 2560x1440 displays and how they impact virtual reality. Some of these displays made it possible to implement low-persistence schemes (OLED displays, strobing) and some could be over-driven beyond the standard 60 FPS refresh rate.
