While Burning Man announced it’s throwing in the towel on a live 2021 event, the world’s largest trade show, CES, will be back in Las Vegas the first week of January, 2022. The new holographic displays will ship with a number of standalone demos on them, including one from Microsoft Mixed Reality Capture Studios.

Some time ago, the most important companies of the XR ecosystem (HTC, Oculus, Microsoft, etc…) joined the Khronos Group to discuss a standard to end the fragmentation of the XR space. An eye-tracking accessory built for Vive should work with Rift as well, and so on. Microsoft Flight Simulator is adding VR support, but….

Well, with this new chip, headsets will: Have a resolution of 3K per eye ; Have up to 7 cameras used simultaneously (12 in total for the device). More info The Las Vegas dome hosts an astonishing concert by the U2 The U2 was the first band to perform inside the big dome in Las Vegas, and the images that have been recorded from the performance are pretty cool. It is not clear if they can also work in the future with the headsets from Pico and Meta.
