Apple threatens future support in Unreal Engine. That’s why even Microsoft took Epic’s stances : Microsoft uses UE4 to develop some products also for Apple devices, and this decision hurts also its business. French startup Lynx has finally unveiled the R1, the first mixed reality standalone headset. While with other VR headsets like the Vive Focus Plus it is already possible to do some kind of augmented reality , this is the first standalone headset that can provide both good quality AR and VR on the same device. The company switched to an enterprise model , but apart from a rebranding and an assistance service it is not clear what it actually means, especially if compared with the enormous enterprise offering that Microsoft is giving with HoloLens (Azure services, integration with Teams, etc…). Unreal Engine 4.25 adds many XR features.

Coronavirus is back in Italy and from yesterday we’re having new restrictions like a night curfew, some kind of shops closed, etc… I hope that you and the people you love are safe. Facebook and Microsoft publish two interesting research projects for VR. The modality to ask for the adapters is not clear yet, though.
