Augmented Reality in 2018. You may hate or love Magic Leap, but the fact that it has released a product is for sure a great news for all the ecosystem : if after all those investments, that startup failed, it would have had a ripple effect on all the ecosystem, making investors lose trust in augmented reality.

Today it’s a great day for virtual reality: at WCVRI conference, HTC has just announced a kit to provide 6 DOF controllers for Vive Focus and has showcased a hands-tracking technology for the Vive Pro ! The city is full of references to Virtual Reality, and so it is like a paradise for us VR enthusiasts. Really fantastic.

Something to note, all nominees had to be centered on a virtual reality experience, and not an augmented reality experience. HTC – Vive. Google – Daydream View. Leap Motion – Leap Motion. Google – Tilt Brush. Google – Google Earth VR.

It seems cool, but I would like to try it to believe in it: all the times that someone promised me some kind of sensory magic, it never turned out so good as they told me (like with the phantom touch sensation that Leap Motion told me about ). Vive Facial Tracker works also with non-HTC headsets. As long as it works….

Even with the organizers of the event, I have to speak mostly in Chinese (hence my headache) and use a lot of Baidu Fanyi (the Chinese counterpart of Google Translate). RealMax can mount a Leap Motion device, so you have the power of using naturally your hands to interact with AR elements. Leap Motion) on the same headset.

This means that if you employ 4 for tracking, you can still use two for instance for eye-tracking and one for lips tracking; Be able to finally offer passthrough augmented reality with appropriate resolution and framerate. HTC won’t announce anything big at CES. Adobe acquires Oculus Medium.
