Apple glasses are coming in 2021–2022 and they are incredibly sleek. Apple glasses are coming. The glasses are expected to run a new operating system, rOS (or reality OS), and Apple is exploring touch panels, voice activation, and head gestures as a means of control. Apple is really good at selling stuff.

The hype for the Apple Pro is starting to deflate and it is possible to see that from some cues: for instance, there are more critics of the headset and fewer articles are talking about it. So at the beginning of next year, we may have huge players like Apple, Google, and Meta battling for the high-end XR sector.

In my personal life, I am still enacting a personal boycott of Meta hardware and software but, as I said in an earlier blogpost , I am willing to give the company’s hardware a shake, to see how well it would fit into an educational environment, i.e. a virtual reality lab for faculty, staff, and student use in teaching, learning, and research.
