Oculus plans to introduce in-app purchases to App Lab experiences. Oculus App Lab has been introduced by Facebook to give a way to indie developers to publish their applications for Quest without the need of passing Facebook’s strong store curation. Plus, the Netflix app has been in VR since the times of Gear VR/Oculus Go.

Facebook has started today enforcing the “Facebook login” rule , asking Oculus users to merge their Facebook and Oculus accounts. The community is not happy with this news, but another piece of news spread this week by VR magazines has given us some hope. MRTK now supports Oculus Quest.

Oculus Quest 2 had a great Christmas. The sales of Oculus Quest 2 have been great during the holidays , and the Quest has been a Christmas gift very much appreciated by kids (but wasn’t there an age limit?). Many Rift users reported problems in using the Oculus Store on PC this week , in particular in downloading games.

Unity should anyway be the first engine partner, something that doesn’t surprise me considering the litigation between Apple and Epic Games, the company behind Unreal Engine. VR looks incredibly stunning with Unreal Engine 5 features like Nanite and Lumen. The Peripheral is a new series on Amazon that has VR at its center.

This week has been the week of the Oculus Connect 6 , the biggest yearly event by Oculus where the VR company announces all its most important news, both on hardware and software sides. Oculus Link. You can even access to Oculus Home and Dash. Oculus Link will be available in beta in November 2019.

It is a big showcase demo for its Unreal Engine 5, and I have to say it is pretty impressive. Business-oriented magazines are talking about the metaverse as a MULTI-TRILLION DOLLAR OPPORTUNITY (caps required to underline the bullsh*tting happening around) and so many people are coming to exploit this opportunity.
