While Oculus is getting all the glory for the Quest, its competitors are not sleeping. Huawei has upgraded its sleek VR glasses and now they support 6DOF movement and 6DOF controllers that are very similar to the Oculus Touch. Notwithstanding all this hate, the Oculus Quest 2 is selling very well. Other relevant news.

Magic Leap 2 has inside-out tracked controllers. During a presentation, Magic Leap has unveiled some more features about its headset and controllers. This has been the week of the launch of the Oculus Quest 2, and this event has been so big that basically, it will take half of this roundup to describe. Facebook releases the Oculus Quest 2. Even if with the Quest 1 was possible to play Oculus Go games, this support has been abandoned on the Quest 2. Top news of the week.

GB: Magic Leap is a big presence in the AR discussion. Outside of the sort of people in this room and in the games press, I don’t think most people know what Magic Leap is. When you talk about investment, certainly Magic Leap has garnered the most, but ODG just closed a big round. VR is inherently isolating.

Samsung Exynos 2200 introduces ray tracing on mobile. Samsung has just announced its new Exynos 2200 mobile chipset , powered by AMD RDNA 2 architecture.

Facebook has already launched the Quest 2 ; HTC hasn’t tweeted anything, so I expect it to not launch its Quest 2 competitor at this CES ; Nreal is still in the middle of its logistic problems; Samsung is silent; etc… I hope to be wrong, but I don’t think we’ll see any kind of disruptive XR headset at CES 2021.
