Xreal Air 2 Ultra are true AR glasses, but they only work with two specific Samsung phones. Since 2022 Xreal has focused on its Air line of media glasses, which until now all lacked positional tracking or true AR capability, instead just mirroring connected devices to a head-locked virtual monitor.

We already know that Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm are working on a competitor of the Vision Pro, which should be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR Gen2+ and cost around $2000. This doesn’t surprise me: Quest launched with decent hand tracking, then evolved it incredibly over the years.

The Nreal Light glasses launched first in Korea, Japan, Germany, and Spain. Phone as controller, hand-tracking. On my Samsung S10, I got about two hours max before my battery drained to 30%. For example, hand tracking is also functional, but there aren’t a lot of apps to use it with so I couldn’t try it yet.

Hands-tracking is also supported. From a first hands-on someone was able to have with the device, seems that the prototype is solid, but the battery life is a bit short (30 minutes). I’m pretty excited by these growing rumors about Samsung because Samsung has always proposed interesting XR devices.

In Japan, new PSVR bundles will include an adapter in the box, while in the West the adapter won’t be included, but it will be given for free to existing PSVR users.
