Samsung’s 2023 Unpacked event was all about the company’s Galaxy S23 hardware, although at the end of its hour-long presentation the South Korean tech giant announced it was working with Qualcomm and Google to develop an XR device. Samsung was one of the first truly massive tech companies to develop VR hardware.

It’s been about six months since the launch of the last Gear VR but Samsung is already readying the next iteration of the device. The new Gear was revealed today by Oculus just before Samsung’s 2017 Mobile World Congress event in Spain. It comes with a new controller. The phone was eventually recalled.

Passes Half a Million Downloads on Gear VR Generally speaking, Oculus and Samsung won’t release official figures for software sales on Gear VR, but Resolution Games today revealed an impressive figure for Bait! Last month Oculus revealed that Gear VR had seen one million people in April 2016, so it sounds like Bait!
