Instead a ‘look-and-tap’ system relying on eye and hand-tracking is the core input method, and by all accounts ( including mine ) it works very well. Signals from Amazon suggest Quest 2 may have outsold Quest 3 nearly 3:1, if not more. 10 years later, Apple is finally about to launch its first headset.

Amazon promises “single-digit latency” XR streaming. Amazon has announced some weeks ago “Wavelength”, a new offering of its AWS services, that should provide “single-digit latency” over 5G networks. Samsung Odyssey+ is now at $230. Devs are doing very interesting things with hands tracking for Quest.

This trend will continue in 2021 : the new LiDAR sensor, which is rumored to be installed in all future iPhones, will for sure be copied also by Android phones (Samsung?) All will feature tracking cameras for 6dof, hand tracking, speakers, microphone, and an additional camera to shoot photos and videos.

While I often discuss the long-term potential of AR & VR, in this article I'm reviewing Apple Vision Pro as it stands as a real product today. Apple Vision Pro on the other hand has occlusion in two distinct forms. The main form is hand and arm occlusion. Unintentional inputs are also a very real problem with hand tracking.
