In 1968, Ivan Sutherland and Bob Sproull created the first head-mounted display (HMD) system for immersive simulation applications. In 1991, the first cubic immersive room dubbed ‘the cave’ was developed by a PhD student in her thesis. In 2017, Sony bundled PS4 consoles with PSVR headsets in order to attract more users.
