This year we saw the launch of: Oculus Go ; Lenovo Mirage Solo ; Vive Focus ; Pico Neo / G2 ; S hadow VR; and the announcement of the Oculus Quest. Samsung has also teased to be interested in releasing a new AR/VR standalone device. Oculus Quest and controllers inside a stand. You just turn them on and they work.

Body tracking leaked from Quest SDK documentation. A leaked image from the Oculus team shows that the company is working to implement body tracking inside the Oculus Unity SDK. A 3D-based experience with six degrees of freedom built in Unity or Unreal Access to source code, with ability to implement a 2MB SDK.

The HoloLens, for example, is Microsoft’s AR platform while the HP and Acer headsets are their VR platform (although they refer to them as “Immersive” headsets in documentation, but whatever, they’re clearly VR headsets.) No cameras, no trackers, no Steam, no Oculus Home. It’s just Windows in VR.

The Unity renderer implementation of foveated rendering, on the other hand is much rougher, and in multiple Unity apps I saw very obvious and harsh artifacts, particularly on text.

Google , Oculus and Samsung Internet also published their WebVR and open-source developer resources. . A WebVR Community Group to decide on WebVR standards was formed by Mozilla, Google, Samsung, Facebook, Intel, Microsoft and other major tech players, with Apple recently joining the community in July this year.
