Sony invests $250M in Epic Games. Sony has announced that it has made a big investment of $250M in Epic Games through one of its subsidiaries. The investment gives Sony a minority stake in Epic that now is evaluated at more than $17B. And Sony for sure wants to have a stake in the metaverse. Top news of the week.

French startup Lynx has finally unveiled the R1, the first mixed reality standalone headset. While with other VR headsets like the Vive Focus Plus it is already possible to do some kind of augmented reality , this is the first standalone headset that can provide both good quality AR and VR on the same device.

I hope that a future rumor clarifies a bit more what is Facebook’s strategy. (Thanks Alessio Palumbo for the tip!). Various months ago, Jason Rubin told the press that he was investigating an exchange of exclusive titles with Sony : his purpose was the one of bringing some of the best PSVR titles, like Resident Evil 7, to the Oculus Store.

Tips & Tricks for the Quest 2! New tips and tricks for Quest 2 are being published for Quest 2: Quest 2 doesn’t work well outdoor, even in conditions when the tracking of the Quest 1 worked. Unreal Engine 5 gets released in Early Access. After a lot of teasing of its upcoming fantastic features, Unreal Engine 5 is finally available for download.
