There was (and still is) quite a good hype for these headsets, exactly as there was hype for what was Oculus Santa Cruz, the codename of the Oculus Quest. The rumors from Mark Gurman talk about a new cheaper version, which can have a more mass market appeal, forecasted for 2025-2026. Let me tell you why.

Only the second edition in 2026 will be actually released to the market. I’m honestly not that convinced by this feature , having seen similar features for PCVR headsets (Oculus Rift Home, SteamVR Home) never gaining ground, but maybe with Quest will be different.

That’s why its greatest bet is AR glasses that are coming from 2024 or 2026. Do you remember when everyone was criticizing Magic leap because it got $2.5B So, Magic Leap was even cheap in comparison. So, Magic Leap was even cheap in comparison. Meta never spent $10B/year for Horizon.

It lacks all Oculus Exclusive titles like Beat Saber and Population One, but its store is becoming anyway interesting.
