Tethered VR will stay as a niche Hero view of PSVR 2 (Image by Sony Interactive Entertainment) Tethered VR has been superseded by standalone VR: there are many more standalone VR users than PC VR ones. Probably they have calculated that this is the right moment to enter, the very beginning of the road to mainstream adoption.

HP has fixed many of the visual problems of the headse t, and Microsoft has just released a patch on Windows 10 that aims at solving many visual issues of all WMR headsets (like Chromatic aberration). But honestly, I expected a bit more … it’s a bit weird that Microsoft hasn’t solved its biggest pain point yet. More info.

Even the big players like Sony, Apple, and Microsoft have substantially reduced their production estimates for 2022, whilst processor manufacturers talk of delays into 2024. It was enjoyable moving my controller around and seeing the reaction in the IMU data, or obscuring different sensors to see the data stream drop out. .
