We can understand this from the data of the sales of the games on the Quest store. It is “easy” to create hype and get preorders and many sales on the first day: Even the Magic Leap One had a very strong first day, and the community was flooded with pictures of people donning the device… but in the end, it was a huge flop.

This trend will continue in 2021 : the new LiDAR sensor, which is rumored to be installed in all future iPhones, will for sure be copied also by Android phones (Samsung?) And even if Google harvests data exactly as Facebook, it has been targeted by fewer scandals, so it is a brand people like more. Magic Leap will meet its fate.
