Lenovo Unveils AI Laptop with Transparent Display at MWC

The ThinkBook represents a new breed of AI business laptops

Lenovo has introduced the AI-powered laptop with a transparent display at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024.

Alongside the ThinkBook, Lenovo has also announced its new third, fifth, and sixth ‘T series’ AI notebook computers called ThinkPads.

The AI features included within both devices are set to streamline working processes and even improve creativity for business users, according to Chinese-American multinational technology company.

Lenovo Chairman and CEO, Yuanqing Yang, explains that these releases are a part of its mission to expand the reach of AI technology:

A ‘Revolutionary’ Laptop

The ThinkBook is an ‘industry-first’ laptop with a 17.3-inch Micro-LED transparent display to bring users a borderless viewing experience.

With a see-through screen, a transparent keyboard area, and footpad design that appears to float, the ThinkBook will bolster user experiences.

Under the surface, the laptop brings together the real with the virtual using Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) to overlay digital information on top of physical objects on the transparent screen.

A supported pen allows users to switch seamlessly between the drawing board and keyboard, opening up new creative possibilities.

The laptop has Micro-LED technology, high colour saturation, excellent contrast, and 1000 nit screen brightness result in the ideal visibility whether it is used inside or outside.

Lenovo latest generation of business laptops include the ThinkPad T14 i Gen 5, ThinkPad T14s Gen 5, ThinkPad T16 Gen 3, ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2 and ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 4.

These are all powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel vPro, Windows 11, and AI hardware and software.

The AI companion, Copilot in Windows, can be leveraged on the business PCs to save time on everyday tasks, such as summarising emails and web pages.

ThinkPad and More

The ThinkPad T series have been designed as high performance and durable devices to enhance everyday productivity.

The newest generation, which includes the T14, T14s, and T16, have been fitted with a communications bar that features a 5MP camera and noise cancelling microphones. The bar also enables the lid to be opened and closed using one hand.

Other changes to the latest generation of T series ThinkPads are tactile markings to increase keyboard accessibility for visually impaired users, enhanced repairability, a 3m optical film solution to increase the brightness, a TrackPoint Quick Menu, and more.

There are also new accessories on offer to enhance mobility like the second generation ThinkVision portable display, a USB-C Slim Travel Dock, and a redesigned ThinkPad Backpack

Mobile World Congress is being hosted in Barcelona between 26th – 29th February this year. Bringing together technology providers, global mobile operators, device manufacturers, content owners, and more, the MWC describes itself as “the largest and most influential event for the connectivity ecosystem”.
