Last month, XR Today held its first-ever online Summit, which gave a platform to some of the brightest minds in the augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) industry.

Featured guests joined the conversation to provide critical details on the emerging technologies that are changing the future of work, industry, and branding.

The final day of the three-day XR event included sessions on core XR topics like Metaverse collaboration, building business values with AR wearables, and WebAR.

While the event’s live stream has passed, the XR Summit online portal hosts each session on demand.

Collaboration in the Metaverse

The final day started with an exclusive one-on-one chat with Alex Howland, the Co-Founder and President of Virbela, who discussed the potential of Metaverse-based remote collaboration services.

Howland took the virtual stage to explain how various verticals can leverage VR and metaverse technologies to collaborate with clients and colleagues—noting useful methods of navigating the rise of immersive collaborative spaces and applications.

The President also explained that Metaverse services could create a united place to have co-presence to enhance peer-to-peer (P2P) communications across verticals.

Creating Business Value with AR Wearables

In a deep dive with extended reality (XR) industry experts Vishal Shah, General Manager of XR and Metaverse for Lenovo, Enzo Jia, CEO and Co-Founder of Longan Vision, and Sanjay Jhawar, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer for RealWear, panellists explored how a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) could deploy immersive wearables at scale.

The panel discussed augmented reality (AR) use cases for businesses and how AR wearables empower businesses in their digital transformations.

The group also explored the new solutions that will lead to creating enterprise Metaverse services.

WebAR – The Stepping Stone to the Virtual World

Next up, representatives from leading WebAR firms, Dan Frith, Vice President of 3D at Avataar and Kevin Joyce, Global Partner for Psychic VR Lab, joined the Summit to discuss the tools available for customers amid Industry 4.0.
The panel also gave insight into the companies developing low or no-code digital tools for accessible and democratised XR content creation solutions.

The Future of XR

Amelia Kallman, Futurist, Author, and Speaker and Andrea Bravo, AR/VR Specialist and Consultant and PhD in XR, and Data Visualisation at the Technical Institute of Denmark (DTU) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), wrapped up the event with a great fireside chat analysing the top trends in XR.
