Decentraland and W3rlds are set to host the world’s inaugural Metaverse Architecture Biennale (MAB) 2023. Titled “Presence of the Future,” the major event is set to take place from 21 to 24 September.

Some of the world’s top architectural creators and firms will gather for the virtual event, highlighting the Metaverse as a prolific tool for digitally transforming businesses.

The event draws inspiration from the Venice Biennale and Expo by showcasing a roster of virtual pavilions, worlds, and experiences from major architects.

Brands and artists such as Killa Design, LAVA, PLP, ATRIUM, Soomeen Hahm, Spaces DAO, DA!, SA lab, OBMI, Mariana Cabugueira Studios, Illusorr, Syntaxis, Il Prisma, and many others will attend the expo.

Over 50,000 visitors and ten top companies are expected to attend the premier Web3 event.

Together, the two immense metaverse platforms will allow attendees to meet in the Metaverse, explore virtual events, view digital exhibitions, network with creatives worldwide, and other activities.

Hello, We’re From the MAB

The first-ever MAB event aims to build use cases across industry verticals in a four-day showcase. Whilst there, people can interact with immersive worlds architecturally created by the world’s top designers.

The MAB will also host talks and performances and allow prospective end users to trial advanced business solutions for digitising their operations on the Metaverse.

World-renowned industry and thought leaders, architectural firms, and others leading the virtual world will guide attendees through their digital journeys. Furthermore, the MAB has launched an open call for virtual creators to showcase select talent worldwide.

Jurors in the contest will also include a mixture of experts, studio leads, and MAB organisers such as Dearch Space and Metancy. Web3 Digital Marketing will provide technical support for projects at the event.

Sergey Nadtochiy, Co-Organiser and Curator, MAB, said,

“We aim to redefine the role of architecture and design in shaping the future of the Metaverse. We truly believe that architecture will play an integral part in the creation of the Metaverse, as graphic design played in shaping the internet we use today”

Irina Dubovik, Co-Organiser, MAB, added that the event would “not only showcase the remarkable creativity of our global community” but also “serve as a platform for exploring the limitless possibilities that the Metaverse offers to businesses worldwide”

Back to the Future of Spatial Communications

The news comes as numerous events move back to the Metaverse, following a volatile tech market last year that led to a huge dip in interest towards the spatial communications platform.

For example, The Immersive Kind, a major digital fashion house and metaverse production studio, hosted the London Metaverse Fashion Week in September last year.

Partnering with metaverse platform Spatial, the event hosted roughly fifteen crypto fashion artists and allowed attendees to engage in a host of virtual experiences. Events such as virtual try-ons (VTOs), non-fungible token (NFT) marketplaces, workshops, and keynote speeches also took place at the massive event.

Designers such as Ivan Svanberg, Heidi Hatten, Jessica James, and Hol Studios attended the event.

The Metaverse Beauty Week also kicked off its first-ever instalment in June, organised by creative agency CULT. Metaverse giants like Decentraland, Roblox, and Spatial also hosted and supported the five-day expo with in-person events in London.

Some of the world’s biggest beauty brands, such as LUSH, Neutrogena, Lotte London, ULTA, and others, also met with beauty and Web3 enthusiasts to challenge perceptions of beauty and fashion across the industry.

People with avatars could navigate immersive environments to compete for prizes, attend workshops, meet guests at metaverse parties, and buy and sell digital beauty assets in an on-site virtual marketplace.
