More than 1,000 apps are now available in the App Store for the Apple Vision Pro, an Apple exec has revealed.

The announcement comes just over two weeks after the headset launched, at which point Apple said there were 600 apps in the store.

In a Tweet, Apple Senior Vice President of Marketing Greg Joswiak said: “A huge thank you to our developers!

“Their hard work has already resulted in over 1,000 incredible spatial apps explicitly designed for Vision Pro, along with over 1.5 million compatible apps.

“We’re thrilled to see how they’ll continue to push the boundaries for what’s possible.”

As expected, Apple has developed spatial versions of popular native apps, including Photos, Notes, Safari, and Apple TV.

However, we’ve also seen a raft of the world’s largest tech firms push out PR, revealing their apps are compatible.

Microsoft revealed that apps across its productivity suite – including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – support Vision Pro usage, while Zoom’s and Webex’s collaboration platforms are also available.

Alongside Vision Pro apps, users can download over one million iOS apps already available in the store, provided the developer has opted into listing the app for the headset.

Notable opt-outs include Netflix, YouTube and Spotify, which are yet to register apps for Vision Pro, although their services are available via Safari. YouTube said it’s developing a Vision Pro app but did not have a timeframe for release.

Vision Pro for Work

Apple has emphasised the Vision Pro’s productivity and collaboration credentials more than many expected.

Of course, there’s also been a significant focus on entertainment, with apps for Disney+ and Apple TV getting widespread attention.

However, the speed at which Microsoft, Zoom, Cisco, and many other firms rolled out apps suggests a strong work angle here, too.

Apple pushed this angle when revealing the headset had 600 apps available, namedropping cloud storage firm Box and 3D presentation company JigSpace, among others.

“Apple Vision Pro is a massive step change in technology, akin to iPhone and iPad,” said Aaron Levie, Box’s co-founder and CEO.

“This breakthrough technology introduces immersive experiences that fundamentally redefine the way we work by delivering visually stunning interactions without physical limitations. The possibilities are endless, from developing the next breakthrough product to reimagining customer experiences.”
