This week, as countless productivity applications find a home on Apple’s recently released Vision Pro, OpenAI’s headline-stealing genAI service ChatGPT also found a place on the emerging spatial computing device.

The genAI solution does not massively incorporate the Vison Pro’s 3D computing elements much. However, the device allows users to view a 2D screen within their spatial computing environment that hosts the deep AI technology; users can enter prompts using the device’s unique input features.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT service joins an already esteemed list of enterprise applications such as:

  • Zoom on Apple Vision Pro: A platform that enables remote team collaboration in an immersive environment without requiring additional physical equipment. In Spring 2024, Zoom plans to enhance the service with new features that include 3D object sharing, allowing workers to collaborate using RT3D models and a Team Chat feature that enables workers to communicate through text-based messages and real-world pinning.
  • Microsoft 365 and CoPilot for Vision Pro: Office 365 and Co-Pilot software solutions are now on Apple’s XR marketplace debut, providing Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Loop on the spatial computing device with integrated Co-Pilot features.
  • TeamViewer Real-Time Assistance for Vision Pro: TeamViewer on Apple’s new device brings TeamViewer’s Spatial Support features, allowing workers to leverage 3D visualizations and real-time remote assistance.
  • Scope AR for Vision Pro: The WorkLink immersive productivity solution is now on the Apple Vision Pro, giving workers the tools to redefine training and manufacturing procedures
  • Wildix for Vision Pro: The unified communications (UC) solution brings digital workplace solutions to Apple’s XR headset, including spatial tools for accessing meeting, text chat, and phone call features
  • STYLY for Vision Pro: The cloud-based platform provides Vision Pro content creators a space to exhibit their work and collaborate.

Notablty of these recently announced Vision Pro workplaces is CoPiloit – the Microsoft-owned GenAI service. Interestingly, CoPilot also runs on OpenAI’s groundwork. Having CoPilot and ChatGPT available at launch provides users two avenues for leveraging genAI features.

Therefore, users can leverage CoPilot – integrated with Office 365 – to assist with workflows; meanwhile, Vision Pro users can leverage ChatGPT for personal and consumer-led queries.

AI and XR Could Exsist Hand in Hand

The news comes as many in the immersive industry believe that AI will propel the effectiveness of workplace AR/VR/MR solutions.

For example, in 2023, Lili Cheng, Corporate Vice President of Business Applications and Platforms at Microsoft – which partially operates OpenAI – wrote on the keys to MR success for frontline workers., which explained how MR [spatial computing] and AI would work hand in hand to promote productivity on XR devices.

Like Chat GPT on Vision Pro, Cheng noted how XR and AI working together can help workers overcome significant blockers while increasing efficiency, connecting workers “beyond their physical limits,” remarked Cheng.

The Microsoft-supported OpenAI is laying the foundation of genAI on the Vision Pro, and with Microsoft seemingly ignoring XR in favour of AI this month, the port of chatGPT may be arriving as Microsoft becomes a software provider for XR devices, with its Microsoft and CoPilot service also joining the Vision Pro this month.

More and more workplace applications are appearing on Vision Pro every day. As the device reaches a worldwide release window, the deep lineup of applications could boost the device into the mainstream.
