AWS is present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 conference in Barcelona, Spain, this week, showing a new product just as the leading enterprise solutions provider moves towards providing a robust spatial computing ecosystem.

The firm is working with Proto Holograms to demonstrate the Amazon Bedrock-powered system that displays a large-scale kiosk with holographic AI avatars.

During the event, AWS and Proto Holograms displayed a live broadcast from AWS VP Matt Wood, allowing the representative to chat with MWC 2024 attendees. Wood could see and communicate with the MWC 2024 audience in real-time during the broadcast, supporting QandAs.

AWS noted that the demonstration highlights its “next-generation partner ecosystems” by combining the skills of emerging technology platforms with content providers, ultimately driving the next wave of AI. AWS’s Bedrock service enables Proto Hologram to choose a selection of base avatar models, customise private data sets, and integrate additional AWS services.

AWS’ Spatial Computing Future

The MWC 2024 update comes as AWS strengthens its spatial computing and industrial Metaverse portfolio for enterprise clients – with integrated support of its large-scale lineup of business tools, boosting the power of the firm’s immersive offerings.

In February, AWS announced that XR/spatial computing developers could use its Amplify backend solution to enhance the user experience and support the deployment of visionOS applications.

AWS says developers can leverage Amplify to develop Vision Pro services more efficiently. This can benefit their XR applications using AWS’ APIs such as log-in services, cloud storage/download of 3D assets, and “query-associated metadata.”

In addition, AWS offers machine learning tools to ensure the smooth running of extensive data sets on a mobile XR device. AWS also provides Identity and Federation services to ensure secure user data and account functionalities.

AWS also released its visionOS developer tools in line with Apple’s debut of its developer Vision Pro pre-release OS last year, allowing AWS’ spatial computing developers to get a head start.

AWS offers partner solutions such as Mytaverse, SURREAL, and PREVU3D services as part of its industrial Metaverse portfolio. Amazon and AWS plan to significantly expand their industrial Metaverse solutions by 2024, which could make the firm a leader in the market based on its previous standing as a digital workplace solutions provider.
