AR is being applied in training and education, healthcare, heads-up wayfinding and navigation, tourism, retail, field service, real estate sales, design and architecture. The World Map in this world therefore isn’t a 2D street map like we have with Google Maps or Open Street Map, nor is it a 3D map with terrain and building volumes.

We did a project just using Google's hand tracking library. What that means that from a software architecture standpoint and a hardware standpoint, we try to make our software as optimized as possible for their reference designs. But things like midair haptics, with the Ultra Haptics or the Ultra Leap now. It would sit weird.

Acer, NVIDIA, Valve, Ubisoft, Leap Motion and many others joined the ecosystem. For example, head tracking can come from optical trackers or inertial ones. For example, DAQRI integrated a plugin that detects objects in a video stream. The open OSVR architecture opens plugin development to everyone.
