Avi Bar-Zeev (RealityPrime - fmr AAPL, AMZ, MSFT) on AR Glasses Great Potential for Benefit and Abuse (Part 2)

The Guest

Avi Bar-Zeev has been a pioneer, architect and advisor in spatial computing for nearly 30 years, both behind the scenes at the world’s largest tech companies, and in the industry at large.

In early 2010, he helped found and invent the HoloLens at Microsoft, developing the first prototypes, demos, patents, plans and UX concepts. At Bing, he built the first prototypes for developer-facing aspects of AR, which we now call the "AR cloud." At Amazon, he helped launch PrimeAir and worked on the Echo Frame glasses.

More recently he helped Apple advance its own “undisclosed” projects.

Early in his career, he worked on novel VR experiences for Disney, including "Aladdin's Magic Carpet" VR Ride.

The Conversation

In this, the second of two parts of our conversation, Avi suggests what the industry needs to do to give ourselves the best future, as well as some of the challenges we face, which are compounded by certain business models. He cautions we should be ready to reject companies and products that aren’t trustworthy.

He goes on to describe why he’s hopeful about the potential for AR and what he’d do with a giant pile of money within this industry.
