Facebook’s Oculus VR team is announcing a new bundle for its Oculus Rift VR system. With it, customers can get a Rift headset, the Oculus Touch controllers, an ASUS VivoX PC , and four free games for the total price of $1300. The bundle will be available in “select territories” through Amazon and NewEgg.

At an event in New York City this morning Acer showed its latest tech offerings. This included a VR headset that is part of Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality platform, simply called the Acer Windows Mixed Reality headset. Visually, the screen texture felt similar to the Oculus Rift. Here’s what we saw.

I’ve seen what companies are doing nowadays to use tracked props on the Oculus Quest: they have to add bulky mounts to install the even bulkier Touch controllers on them. We started the year strong, receiving the Lumiere Technology Award in January, alongside companies like Disney and Microsoft. Weeks later, we traveled to Park City, Utah to debut our HaptX Glove prototype at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. This new industrial-grade system offers the most realistic haptics experience to date.

VPS won’t be available worldwide, though: the company is enabling its VPS system in select cities ?—?San San Francisco, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York City, and Seattle?—?for By the end of the year, the cities will hopefully be around 100. The “metaverse” was not a key topic inside “Microsoft Build”.
