This could also be a move to counteract the probable future actions of Samsung, that is rumored to announce an amazing AR/VR hybrid standalone headset; The showcase of a new pro device based on the Half-Dome prototype , to fight the Valve Index… and that will become the Rift Pro; The announcement of a new Facebook Metaverse.

In my opinion , the true error is with the Vive 1 , that will get a price that is higher than the one of all the competitors… and that will cost as much as a Samsung Odyssey, notwithstanding its far lower features. This is Oculus’s answer to Steam Hardware & Software Survey. Magic Leap releases its SDK.

So at least the collaboration with Valve is true, but notice that it has not been on the headset, so they got no reference design from Valve, it has just been on the software integration. While HTC is struggling on the hardware side, I think that it is moving very well to create a good software ecosystem, at least in China.

Microsoft and Samsung may be partnering for an AR device. According to Korean media, Samsung Electronics is working with Microsoft on a new augmented/mixed reality project “involving HoloLens”. Samsung is one of the most famous suppliers of components for electronic devices (e.g. Samsung Odyssey+).
