Oculus official side distribution platform is coming soon. Last year, Facebook announced that it was going to release in 2021 a new side content distribution platform for the Oculus Quest. The software is very famous , and some videos about artists drawing with it have become so viral that even mainstream people have seen them.

They should guarantee better tracking both for the headset and the controllers; The controllers are smaller and seem a mix between the Oculus Touch and the WMR 1 controllers. I don’t see this device stealing the scene from Oculus, since Oculus is cheaper, but I’m quite sure this new headset will be able to grab a good market share.

Project North Star is an opensource reference design for a wide-FOV augmented reality headset that Leap Motion (now Ultraleap ) has given to the community. Keep in mind that Magic Leap One has a diagonal FOV of 50° and you realize why the word “only” is between quotes. North Star AR headset.

And last year there were tons of people… I have seen some videos that were a bit shocking… people were so many that it was almost impossible to enter! Markers can be used to define where to show virtual elements, and in the demo that I tried were used to show virtual Chinese artworks in a room; Leap Motion device on Realmax glasses.

Another big kudos comes from the fact that Snap is clearly showing all the limitations of the device in its communication : in all photos and videos, you can spot the limited FOV of the device, something that instead all the other AR companies try to hide.
