Also consider that at the moment most of the holographic displays are monochrome (usually green), and to have a full RGB display you would need to triple the required hardware (have 3 lasers for the 3 main colors). Here is an update on my quest to stay on top of all things “holo:” HoloLamp and RealView “Live Holography.” According to the Wikipedia entry for computer-generated holography , one of the simpler algorithms to generate the required interference patterns, Fourier transform, is only able to create holograms of 2D images.
