Ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week, Google announced it’s bringing ARCore , it’s augmented reality SDK, out of preview and to a number of flagship smartphones in its 1.0 ” Here’s the 13 different models ARCore is supporting now: Google’s Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. ASUS’s Zenfone AR.

Top news of the week (Image by Google) Google killed its AR glasses Project Iris Do you remember the name Project Iris? Various reports indicated it as the internal codename in Google for a project meant to build augmented reality glasses. It was our hope for Google entering the AR race together with Meta and Apple.

Anyway, with the end of the life of Quest 2, this cycle finished and a new one started with Quest 3, Apple Vision Pro, Google and Samsung announcing their own headset, and other companies chasing them (e.g. Especially Apple and Google, which are the dominant players in the smartphone industry, are both launching headsets this year.

In practice, remember that is still a modding tool, so the experience with the various games may vary , and some games may not feel great to be used in VR. We already know that Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm are working on a competitor of the Vision Pro, which should be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR Gen2+ and cost around $2000.
