This is a period with many tech announcements: we had Meta telling about its Horizon OS, yesterday OpenAI unveiled the new GPT-4o, and today Google will hopefully unveil its Android XR operating system. There is only one big problem: the form factor is terrible , they look super-dork, even worse than Google Glasses. Nowadays in social VR worlds like VRChat you can have a maximum of 50–100 people together in the same room. They managed to put 4,000 bots simulating 4,000 connected clients in the same WebXR virtual world.

French startup Lynx announced some months ago a quite interesting headset featuring pass-through augmented reality , hands tracking, eye tracking, and an innovative lens design. The standalone headset still features passthrough AR/MR, XR2 chipset, dual 1600×1600 LCD panels running at 90Hz, Ultraleap hands tracking.

They both serve a similar purpose, that is blending the virtual and the real : if wearing a Varjo XR-1 headset you go to a greenscreen room, you will see the virtual world in the places where there is the green color and the real one in the other parts of your view. Google MediaPipe can now track 3D objects.

This startup just exited from stealth mode, is like Google Maps but for the interior of shopping centers, offices, and other closed environments. Unreal Engine 4.25 update, Unreal Engine has added many features that may be useful in crafting XR experiences. CTRL+C in the real world, CTRL+V in the virtual one.
