As a long-time AR enthusiast, and one of the first to have tried Google Glass in Italy, I have to admit that I will consider AR mainstream only when it will be on glasses that we will wear all day , when we’ll live in a completely shared mixed reality world (the AR Cloud). Some will also feature tracked controllers.

Many game engines – such as Unity, Unreal and SteamVR- immediately support it. Eye tracking software converts eye images into gaze direction. Hand tracking software converts hand position into gestures. Google Glass has not been as successful as hoped. Magic Leap is not commercial yet.
