With the Quest Pro v53 firmware, you can now globally enable local dimming with an ADB command. LCDs with local dimming, such as the Quest Pro panels, offer a middle-ground solution. They have many backlights to control brightness in zones – in Quest Pro’s case over 500 mini LEDs.

At Meta Connect I went hands-on with Quest 3. Quest 3 is a significant improvement over its predecessor on paper, with a 40% slimmer visor, pancake lenses, next-generation chipset, color cameras, depth sensor, and more. Quest 3 is actually ever so slightly heavier than Quest 2 - 12 grams heavier to be precise.
