Virtual reality is already being used on the ground to help prepare astronauts for the rigors of space, although now HTC says it’s sending its standalone VR headset Vive Focus 3 to the International Space Station (ISS) to help support the mental health of astronauts during their mission. To help alleviate stress, and maybe even combat homesickness, a specially-fitted Vive Focus 3 will make its way to the ISS starting on November 7th as a part of a resupply mission.

It was clear all the way back in 2018 with the release of Racket: Nx that developer One Hamsa has a certain sense of game-feel and attention-to-detail that’s rare to find in most VR games. The studio managed to take a broad idea like ‘racquetball in VR’ and turn it into something really unique and totally fitting for the medium.

Meta Quest 3 showed up on the October Steam Hardware Survey - but there are two important caveats to note. The Steam Hardware & Software Survey is offered to a random sample of Steam’s user base each month. If you accept, it uploads a list of your PC specs and peripherals to Valve, as well as any headset used on SteamVR. Quest 3 was used by 0.15% of SteamVR users sampled in October, compared to 39.69% for Quest 2 and 0.35% for Quest Pro.

Quest developers can now share access to pre-release apps, or closed betas of released apps, via URL. Previously, Quest developers could only share pre-release apps and closed betas by whitelisting the email address associated with a person's Meta account, which requires direct communication and raises privacy concerns. Now access to pre-release apps can be shared via URL, which could for example be posted in a Discord.
