The last three years may feel as though they’ve gone by pretty quickly. A few short years ago, we were seeing an explosion of interest and production in XR theater and live virtual entertainment. The pandemic meant that a lot of theaters were empty, creating a strong need for audiences and entertainers alike. Now it’s 2023. Theaters are open again. But, that doesn’t mean that XR theater has gone anywhere.

A full reveal is scheduled for later this month. Polyarc, the developer of the popular Moss franchise, has announced its latest VR game for Meta Quest headsets, Glassbreakers: Champions of Moss. Polyarc describes the game as a competitive multiplayer VR experience. Based on the images provided, Glassbreakers features similar character designs to those in Moss and its sequel, Moss: Book II.

Ghosts of Tabor reached a new milestone, surpassing $3 million in gross revenue on Quest App Lab. Developed by Combat Waffle Studios, Ghosts of Tabor is an extraction-based FPS survival game in early access, inspired by Escape from Tarkov. Despite App Lab's limited visibility, a new Meta developer blog confirms the extraction-based FPS survival game surpassed $3 million USD in sales on Quest.

SK Hynix showcased its 321-layer TLC NAND memory at the Flash Memory Summit 2023. The South Korean company is the first NAND maker to publicly demonstrate 3D NAND with over 300 layers. Although such memory is expected in mass production in 2025, the demonstration is meant to showcase SK Hynix's preparedness for the next wave of non-volatile memory technology.

TrendForce projects a remarkable 105% increase in annual bit shipments of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) this year. This boost comes in response to soaring demands from AI and high-performance computing processor developers, notably Nvidia, and cloud service providers (CSPs). To fulfill demand, Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix are reportedly increasing their HBM capacities, but new production lines will likely start operations only in Q2 2022.

Sony's monthly round-up was announced on the PlayStation Blog ranking the PlayStation Store's top 10 downloads for each active platform. Monster Hunter Now, Capcom and Niantic's upcoming AR action RPG, reached one million pre-registrations in a week. Releasing next month on iOS and Android, Monster Hunter Now recently kicked off a pre-registration campaign before the AR game's official launch. Offering bonus items for every major milestone hit, further rewards are promised if the game reaches 2 million, 3 million and 5 million pre-registrations.
