Meta paused shipments of its Elite Strap with Battery for Quest 3 amid widespread user reports of a charging fault that renders the battery useless. Meta says it’s now manufacturing new battery straps that fixes the defect, and that replacements are being handled on a case-by-case basis. We reported earlier this month that the Elite Strap with Battery was facing serious reliability issues among its users.

Meta paused Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery sales as it replaces stock with a firmware issue causing incomplete charging. Many buyers of the $130 official accessory have reported it not being recognized by the headset or not charging correctly. Meta told Road To VR that this is due to a firmware fault with the strap itself, and since the firmware isn't user-updatable it will have to replace its inventory with units with new firmware, hence the sales pause.

Meta Platforms has now entered new territory with Chinese tech giant MediaTek as it explores a partnership for its future augmented reality (AR) smart glasses. In a recent event, Chinese chipmaker MediaTek met with executives from Meta to team up for its future smart glass product lineup. German enterprise extended reality (XR) firm Hololight announced on Tuesday it had received new sources of funding to launch its Holo-Light Hub. Designed as the company’s first-ever XR streaming solution, Hololight Hub will allow enterprise users to stream any XR applications across virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR) devices. It will also accommodate smartphones, laptops, and tablets, among others.
