After a few days where we thought we were all living in a big oven, here in Italy we’re having the first taste of Autumn, with the temperatures going down and a lot of rain falling from the sky. I’m in that situation where I don’t know if being happy or not: on the one side, having some fresher air is welcome, but on the other side, this means that the Summer is beginning to end, and this makes me a bit sad.

Meta’s social VR platform just took its first step outside of Quest-exclusivity, as the company recently launched a closed beta for Horizon Worlds on Android mobile devices. You won’t find Horizon Worlds on Google Play. Users taking part in the closed beta can directly launch the app through the Quest Android app. X (previously Twitter) user Lunayian was apparently one of those chosen few, showing off a brief hands-on in the Super Rumble lobby, Meta’s first-party hero shoote

With the annual Hot Chips conference taking place this week, many of the industry’s biggest chip design firms are at the show, talking about their latest and/or upcoming wares. For Intel, it’s a case of the latter, as the company is at Hot Chips to talk about its next generation of Xeon processors, Granite Rapids and Sierra Forest, which are set to launch in 2024.

Two quality VR games with more recent sequels are Meta's Quest+ titles for September. Meta Quest+ is the company's new monthly games susbscription service which debuted at the end of June for $8 per month. You can cancel membership and when you re-join you get access to the games you previously unlocked with the subscription. Starting Sept. 1 and continuing through the end of the month Meta Quest+ members can get Red Matter from Vertical Robot and A Fisherman's Tale from Innerspace.
