Mozilla, the company behind the Firefox browser, shuttered most of its web-focused XR development back in 2020. At the time, the company’s web-based social VR app Hubs was spared from the chopping block. Now, after a new organization-wide restructuring, all development on Hubs is set to be wound down in May. Launched in 2018, Hubs is an XR chatroom that runs directly in a browser, giving both VR headset users and standard monitor and smartphone users a place to connect.

Crucial is unveiling the latest addition to its Gen5 consumer NVMe SSD lineup today - the T705 PCIe 5.0 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD. It takes over flagship duties from the Crucial T700 released last year. The company has been putting focus on the high-end consumer SSD segment in the last few quarters. More than 1,000 apps are now available in the App Store for the Apple Vision Pro, an Apple exec has revealed. The announcement comes just over two weeks after the headset launched, at which point Apple said there were 600 apps in the store. The United States Department of Commerce and GlobalFoundires announced on Monday that the US will be awarding GlobalFoundries with $1.5 billion in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. The latest domestic chip fab to receive money under the act, GlobalFoundries's funding will be spent to upgrade company's New York and Vermont fabs as well as build a brand-new fab module.

Squido Studio, best known for No More Rainbows, announced a VR/MR sandbox game called Anarchitects. Described as combining the "limitless creativity" of Roblox with a physics-based drag-and-drop system like Garry's Mod , Anarchitects takes place in a full real-time multiplayer environment. Squido states you can "build, play, and share their creations with no scripting or coding involved," adding that you could create puzzles, a zero gravity team shooter, board games and more.

Mannequin, an asymmetrical VR multiplayer game, enters open alpha today on Quest. Revealed last year, Mannequin by Fast Travel Games supports up to five players in 2v3 matches, seeing two Agents hunt down three shape-shifting aliens known as Mannequins. Reminiscent of Prop Hunt in Garry's Mod, these aliens can pose as frozen human statues and kill Agents with a single touch, while Agents scan for Mannequins using an EMP gun.
